An officer involved in the deadly shooting of a suspect in Chippewa Falls is being cleared of any wrongdoing.
Chippewa Falls Police Department Sergeant James Luckey was pursuing a suspect on foot on the morning of April 9th when authorities say that individual, 44-year-old Bradley Barnum, appeared to pull a gun on the officer. Luckey opened fire — hitting Barnum — who later was revealed to have been carrying a BB gun. Barnum died at the scene. Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell said in a statement released yesterday that Luckey’s actions that day were reasonable acts of self-defense.
