Dispute Over UW Tuition

A new dispute is brewing over tuition at the university of Wisconsin system, with former president Jay Rothman accusing the board’s leader of not being fully honest with lawmakers.

Wis-politics reports that Rothman says a 2 percent tuition increase was already in the works when regent’s president Amy Bogost testified that nothing had been decided. He believes a planned vote was quietly pulled after that hearing raised concerns. The board of regents is standing by its actions and says it won’t revisit Rothman’s firing. Some lawmakers say this situation, and the way Rothman was let go, raises bigger questions about accountability.
