DNC Day 2, Political Attention Continues in WI

The Democratic National Convention closed Tuesday night with a pair of speeches from Barack and Michelle Obama.  Barack went after Donald Trump, saying re-electing him would be dangerous, while Kamala Harris will fight for the American people.

Wisconsin’s governor had a tough night at the Democratic National Convention. Governor Tony Evers flubbed Wisconsin’s vote in last night’s DNC roll call, and was booed for mentioning the Green Bay Packers. The DNC, is of course, being held in Chicago. Evers couldn’t get the words out of his mouth to cast Wisconsin’s official vote for Kamala Harris. He seemed to lose his place, and at several times said ‘Oh geez.’

Other speakers on the evening included Doug Emhoff, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Bernie Sanders.  Wednesday is scheduled to see vice presidential nominee Tim Walz deliver his acceptance speech, along with former President Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Kamala Harris spent the second night of the Democratic National Convention rallying her voters in Milwaukee.

Harris spoke to a packed house of over 15-thousand supporters last night at Fiserv Forum, and was joined by her running mate, Minnesota governor Tim Walz.  Her speech was streamed live to the DNC in Chicago, and was interrupted several times by the crowd chanting, “We’re not going back.”  It was her second visit to Milwaukee since becoming the Democratic nominee about a month ago, and her seventh visit to Wisconsin this year.

Showing you different sides so you can decide, JD Vance talked crime during his latest visit to Kenosha.

Vance stopped in Kenosha yesterday as part of his swing through the battleground states. Vance went back to the violent summer of 2020 that saw riots in Kenosha after the Jacob Blake shooting, and blamed Governor Evers for not calling-out the National Guard sooner. Vance also blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for what he said was encouraging violent protests four years ago. Vance was in Wisconsin a few hours before Harris yesterday.

The latest polls show the race for the White House in Wisconsin is essentially tied.
