State officials say a hunter won’t be charged for shooting a mountain lion in western Wisconsin.
The mountain lion is a protected species in the state. State Natural Resources officials say the bow hunter felt threatened by the mountain lion, also known as a cougar. They say the hunter reported the shooting on Saturday over the state’s violation hotline. The hunter was not injured. The Buffalo County District Attorney’s office says it investigated the incident and decided not to press charges.
