The top Republican in the Wisconsin Assembly says he wants to wait, and follow the law when dealing with Wisconsin’s elections chief.
Assembly speaker Robin Vos said on Capital City yesterday that he doesn’t see a need to impeach Meagan Wolfe because he believes the State Senate has removed her from office. Wolfe is refusing to leave, relying on a legal opinion from the state’s Attorney General that says she gets to keep her job until a replacement is named. Vos says he wants to see what the courts say about that opinion before talking about impeaching Wolfe. The president of the Wisconsin Senate last week wrote Vos, and asked him to impeach Wolfe as soon as possible.
