Coming up in September the Altoona Police Department will be once again hosting Spanish and German police officers in partnership with the STAR International Police Exchange Organization. STAR was founded in 1985 between American and German officers to create an international platform for law enforcement education and friendship.
The European officers will be joining several local law enforcement agencies with ride alongs, training exercises, and facility tours. Guests will reside with the families of local officers in Eau Claire and Chippewa Counties, where they can experience what it is like to live and work as an American police officer. Of course, this exchange also presents local law enforcement with the chance to learn how specific criminal behavior is dealt with in other parts of the world.
