The St. Croix County Emergency Communication Center received a call at about 2:15 a.m. on August 4, 2023, from a motorist advising they had come across a single vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Old Mill Road, in Star Prairie Township.
Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2023 Yamaha YW125 scooter operated by Gordon W. Thompson, age 43, from New Richmond, WI. Mr. Gordon was lying on the road next to the scooter with critical injuries. Life saving measures were unsuccessful. Mr. Thompson was pronounced deceased by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New Richmond Fire Department, New Richmond Ambulance, Star Prairie First Responders, Life-Link III and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
This incident remains under investigation.
