Driving Complaint Leads to 5th OWI

A driving complaint leads to a 5th OWI for an Amery man.

51 year old John Thomas Kratz from Amery has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense.

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, at approximately 4:03 PM a Wisconsin State Trooper responded to a driving complaint in the city of Amery and located the vehicle. Upon approach, the Trooper detected an odor of intoxicants and observed open alcohol containers in the vehicle. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests, showed the driver, John Thomas Kratz from Amery, WI, was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant 5th offense. Mr. Kratz was arrested and transported to the Amery Hospital for an evidentiary test of his blood and then to the Polk County Jail.
