Eau Claire is looking to borrow two million-dollars to get the library expansion over the hump.
The city council will vote tomorrow on whether to ask for a two million-dollar loan from the state to bridge the gap between the end of construction on the library, and the time when donations start to roll-in again. About seven million-dollars of the library’s 18 million-dollar price tag is being paid for with private donations, but not all of that money has been delivered yet. The loan wouldn’t have to be paid back til 2024, which is when library managers say they should get all of their donations.
