It was a robbery-gone-bad. Milwaukee Police say they’ve finally arrested a man in connection to the January murders of six people on the city’s northwest side.
Prosecutors filed charges against 34-year-old Travis Birkley on Saturday. Court documents say Birkley and at least two other men killed the six during a robbery that turned south. This is not Birkley’s first homicide case. He was adjudicated as a teenager in 2002, but the details of that case are in juvenile court. Birkley is being held on a million-dollars bond.
Meanwhile, after a violent weekend that saw six more shootings in the city there were some orange t-shirts and a line of cars on Milwaukee’s west side.
The group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America hosted a drive-thru memorial for Milwaukee’s shooting victims both Saturday and Sunday. Advocates demanded that lawmakers do something. They also handed-out gun locks.
