Construction has formally begun on the Sonnentag Event Center in Eau Claire with the groundbreaking at the site on Menomonie Street.
The Sonnentag Event Center is part of the County Materials Complex. John and Mary Sonnentag were on hand for the ceremony yesterday. They donated 70-million dollars toward the 107-million dollar project, which will be the largest indoor event complex in northwest Wisconsin. It will replace Zorn Arena and is expected to be finished by 2024.
