Trial Continues in MN for Ex-Officers

Testimony is continuing in the federal civil rights trial of three ex-Minneapolis police officers.

The Hennepin County chief medical examiner faced cross examination by the defense yesterday, saying his office became the target of protests in the days after autopsy results for George Floyd were released in 2020, despite the non-political nature of the office.  Doctor Andrew Baker testified that Floyd died when his heart and lungs stopped working because of the restraint by law enforcement.  The three on trial are charged with failing to provide Floyd with aid two also face a charge of depriving Floyd of his civil rights.

Testimony will resume today.
