Big Bump in Bucks for Next Bucky Chancellor

Big Bump in Bucks for Next Bucky Chancellor

The next chancellor at UW-Madison will likely make a lot more money than the current one.

UW Regents are considering pay raises, between five and 32-percent, for top leaders. Regents say they need to pay that much more in order to get top candidates. The plan would increase the salary for UW President by nearly seven percent, increase the salary for UW-Madison chancellor by nearly 22-percent, and increase the salary for UW-Milwaukee chancellor by 32 percent. UW President Tommy Thompson makes just under a half-million dollars a year, but the salary range for that job goes as high as 734-thousand-dollars a year.  Out-going UW-Madison Chancellor made 606-thousand-dollars last year in base pay.

The increase would take that job’s salary to 900-thousand-dollars-plus, not including benefits.
