Governor Evers has scuttled a plan from Republican lawmakers to send more money to cities that spend more money on their police departments.
The governor vetoed the plan on Friday. He says the proposal would have put too many restrictions on cities as to how they could manage their budgets. State Senator Van Wanggaard, who wrote the plan, said the governor is turning his back on communities that want to support law enforcement. Wanggaard says with crime spiking in Wisconsin, the governor is sending the wrong message.
