Netflix may be looking to crack down on user password-sharing.
The company is testing out a new policy with select customers, telling them to sign up for a separate account if they aren’t watching with the subscriber. A Netflix spokesperson says the company tries “hundreds” of tests a year with select customers. The experiment may not lead to a larger enforcement, but could be applied to account security.
Research firm Magid reports that about 33-percent of all Netflix users share their password with at least one other person. Earlier this year, the company announced that it had topped 200-million subscribers worldwide.
