WI Chief Medical Officer Warns of Tipping Point

Wisconsin is adding another seven thousand positives to its coronavirus count.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported seven thousand-48 more coronavirus positives. DHS also reported 277 new cases of the virus in the hospital, and 62 new deaths. There are eleven people in the state’s overflow hospital at the state fairgrounds. Since March, 285 thousand people in Wisconsin have tested positive for the virus, and nearly 25 hundred people have died with or from it.

There is a warning from Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services that the coronavirus could soon be out of control in the state.

DHS’ chief medical officer Ryan Westergaard yesterday said Wisconsin is at a tipping point. He says things in the state could get much worse, and he warned that doctors may not be able to save everyone who gets seriously ill from the virus. Governor Evers on Tuesday asked people across the state to stay home and stay away from others to try and help limit the virus’ spread.

Chippewa County’s public health boss says coronavirus numbers are surging because people won’t stay home and won’t wear their masks. Health Director Angela Weideman yesterday said non-compliance is driving the spike in coronavirus positives. Since March, just over three thousand people in Chippewa County have tested positive for the virus. Thirty three people in the county have died.
