A man is in custody after a fiery crash that ended in an officer involved shooting last night.
Eau Claire police say Chippewa Falls police were pursuing a hit and run suspect and drove into the city. Police say they used stop sticks to deflate the suspect’s tires while several police agencies continued chasing the vehicle before the car eventually crashed into a bridge and caught fire. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and began to reach for his waistband when an officer shot a non-lethal round that brought the suspect to the ground.
Police say the man was released to the Chippewa Falls Police Department after a medical evaluation.
