On the same day that Wisconsin saw a record number of new positive coronavirus tests, the state saw its death rate drop and the number of people declared recovered increase as well. We will look at all of the numbers.
The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said there were just over 32 hundred positive tests. That’s the most in one day ever. DHS also reported that Wisconsin’s coronavirus death rate is down to one percent.

Locally, the number of people testing positive for the coronavirus in Eau Claire County is falling. City-County Health Director Lieske Giese yesterday said the county’s numbers have fallen since last month’s spikes. Giese says about 35 people are testing positive per-day. She credits the drop to the falling numbers at UW-Eau Claire. Giese said she’d like to see more people in the county tested, to see what the numbers outside of the campus look like.
However, we also have a new death reported, meaning eight people are now victims of COVID-19 in Eau Claire County. The health department says the person was 65-years-old with underlying health conditions. Seventy-one people have been hospitalized with coronavirus in the county, and over two-thousand people have recovered.
