WI Capitol Sees Democracy in Action

Demonstrations with opposing views are held in Madison.

The two groups held separate gatherings yesterday at the state Capitol.  Republican candidates for the state Assembly rallied their supporters in favor of conservative values and law and order.

Nearby, the Impact Demand group called for a national law known as the Hands Up Act for a minimum sentence of 15-years behind bars for police officers who kill unarmed people.

While we are at the Capitol, leading up to the election Madison has six-thousand poll workers ready to go this November.

Elections officials say there were so many requests for applications they finally had to start turning them down.  They say aggressive recruitment has played a role in the surge of poll workers.
