WI COVID-19 Cases Climb, Fox Valley Issue Public Health Emergency

State health officials say there are over 27-hundred positive cases of coronavirus confirmed over the last day.  The total number of cases statewide is approaching 128-thousand.  Five additional deaths reported today brings the death toll to one-thousand-353 residents killed by COVID-19.

The pressure is especially felt in the Fox Valley. Health officials there issued a Public Health Emergency COVID-19 Alert.  Local hospitals have been put under increasing strain with the surge of coronavirus cases across the state, including the Fox Valley.

The cities of Appleton, Menasha, Calumet Outagamie and Winnebago County Health departments are asking residents to follow coronavirus health safety guidelines to help stop the spread of the virus.  Those protocols include not holding indoor gatherings, limiting outdoor gatherings to ten people or fewer, wearing face coverings and keeping physical distance.
