WI Reacts to Kenosha Officer Involved Shooting

Tempers continue to flare in Kenosha where police shot a Black man while responding to a domestic call.

Jacob Blake is hospitalized in serious condition after being shot multiple times in the back while leaning into his SUV last evening.  The shooting set off a night of protests and rioting.  The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave which is protocol.

NBC News’ Shaquille Brewster says after the shooting, Kenosha residents responded to it. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers released a statement on what happened.

Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin are voicing similar concerns regarding the police shooting of a Black man in Kenosha.  Johnson says emotions are understandably running high and he urged demonstrators to remain peaceful while the justice system has a chance to work.  Baldwin says the video from Kenosha is terrifying to watch and a full and independent investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice is warranted.

There is a viral petition on Change.org calling for the arrest of the police officers who shot Wisconsin resident, Jacob Blake on Sunday, August 23. The petition crossed 100,000 signatures in just 24 hours and demands that Governor Tony Evers and the Kenosha Wisconsin Police Department grant justice for the incident.
