NATIONAL GUARD & PROTESTERS BOTH AT CAPITOL

The Wisconsin National Guard troops who are protecting the state Capitol have orders to let protesters protest.

Governor Evers yesterday activated the Wisconsin National Guard’s Quick Reaction Force to help Madison Police protect the statehouse. The governor, however, said the Guard is to allow people to exercise their First Amendment rights. The troops were sent to the Capitol yesterday after a crowd of about 200 rampaged near the statehouse Tuesday night. They tore down two statues and smashed windows at the Capitol.

State Senator Tim Carpenter said the protesters attacked him for simply taking pictures of what they were doing.
