WI SAFER AT HOME REBOOT

WI SAFER AT HOME REBOOT

Wisconsin’s new Safer at Home order begins today, and that means that some people will be outside a bit more. Including some golfers who are able to hit courses, with modified rules.

Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer says, for the most part, people have been following the rules to stay at home. The sheriff says when there is a violation, his deputies take them on a case-by-case basis. The new Safer at Home order is supposed to run til May 26th, but lawmakers in Madison are suing to end it by May 11th.

Wisconsin’s coronavirus count has passed another milestone. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday confirmed just over five-thousand cases so far. Five-thousand-52 people have come down with the virus, and 257 people have died from it. DHS says there were 207 new cases yesterday, that’s down a bit from Wednesday’s spike of 221. Many of those new cases continue to be tied to meat packing plants in the Green Bay area.

Here in our backyard, there are some folks planning for when Eau Claire can get back to work. The city’s Chamber of Commerce has formed an Economic Recovery Task Force. Chamber President David Minor says the hope is to work with the city’s essential businesses to get ready for a return to business as usual. There is no guess, however, when that will be.
