LOCAL CORONAVIRUS CASES CREEP UP

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Wisconsin continues to grow.  Including locally, Eau Claire City County Health Department confirmed 3 cases here in Eau Claire County.

We do know that one of those cases was a UWEC study aboard student. That person is now doing well and self-isolating at home with family.

State Department of Health Services says 206 cases are confirmed as of today with three death recorded.  Nearly 35-hundred tests have come back negative.

The victims include a man in his 50s from Fond du Lac County, a man in his 90s in Ozaukee County and a 66-year-old man in Milwaukee County.

How about a little “PROOF’ that people are good?

A shortage of hand sanitizers is prompting a Madison area distiller to find a way to fill a need.

The general manager of Yahara Bay distillers tells WMTV they began selling 140-proof vodka today as a hand sanitizer and hope to start producing actual hand sanitizer shortly.  The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau waived provisions yesterday which will allow distilleries to produce ethanol-based hand sanitizers until the end of June.  Yahara GM Nels Forde says facilities are required to follow the World Health organization’s formula for making hand sanitizer.

Meanwhile, in Missouri some prisoners are “cleaning up” their act!

The state of Missouri is putting its prisoners to work to help fight the spread of the coronavirus.  Alisa Zee explains.
