Chippewa County is emptying part of its jail to try and halt the spread of the coronavirus.
Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk yesterday sent work release prisoners home. The sheriff says no one who is being sent home is a threat or was being held on a serious charge. There are usually about 130 people in the Chippewa County Jail, yesterday it was down to 50.
