CHIPPEWA CO. RULES AGAINST SEX OFFENDER PLACEMENT

A convicted sex offender from Kenosha will have to find a new place to stay.

A Chippewa County judge yesterday ruled that prison officials cannot send convicted sex offender Jeffrey Neubecker to the small town of New Auburn. Wisconsin law requires sex offenders to be released to their home county, or the county where the crime occurred. Neubecker has no ties to Chippewa County. Neighbors in New Auburn were furious when they first learned of the plan to place him in their community.
