It’s not the state’s birthday, but it is its day of national recognition.
Today is Wisconsin Day which celebrates the people and rich history of the state. Wisconsin joined the Union as the 38th state in May of 1848.
The first capital was Belmont founded in 1836, but it moved to Madison in 1838.
