WI WARNS AGAINST VAPING; SOME PLACES OUTLAW

Madison and Dane County’s health department is the latest in Wisconsin to tell people not to vape.

Health department director Janel Heinrich yesterday said people need to stop vaping, immediately.  Heinrich says it doesn’t matter if people are vaping nicotine or marijuana, she says there’s no safe level of vaping.

Wisconsin health managers say 34 people in the state have been hospitalized after vaping.

Some areas are taking it one step further. Vaping is now prohibited in some parts of Middleton.  On Friday, Mayor Gurdip Brar said the move is to protect public health.  The ban is in effect around town in public places where regular smoking is also not allowed.

The Middleton ordinance went into effect on August 29.  A similar measure is set to be in force in Beloit starting this coming Wednesday.
