No one was home and no one was hurt in a house fire in Eau Claire County. Firefighters say the fire on Friday night gutted a home on Berlin Road in the Town of Ludington. It took crews three hours to put the flames out.  There is no word as to what started the fire.

 We’re starting to get a look at the new classes of freshman on UW campuses. UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow the freshman class there this year is the largest in school history. Gow says more than 23 hundred new students are on campus this fall. Tomorrow is the first day of class at UW-La Crosse, the official enrollment number will come out in a few weeks.

 Nearly 50 dogs rescued in Washington County now need new homes. The Washington County Humane Society rescued the dogs on Friday. Animal rescuers say the dogs were in a pick-up truck and being brought to Wisconsin when they were discovered. Most of them are puppies. The Humane Society says some of them will be available for adoption as soon as tomorrow.

For many, it is a sad goodbye to Herb Kohler. The longtime CEO of the Kohler Company passed away Saturday, he was 83. The family said his ‘zest for life, adventure’ inspired many. Kohler ran the Kohler Company for 43 years before he handed the role off to his son, David in 2015. There is no word yet on funeral plans.

A Minnesota man picks up an OWI in Eau Claire County. 36 year old Sean Michael Renspe, from Stacy , MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16. On Sunday, September 4th at approximately 10:13 a.m., a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on Interstate 94 at mile post 71

A crash leads to an OWI for a Menomonie woman. On Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at 2:36 a.m., Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash at the exit 52 westbound on-ramp of Interstate 94 in Dunn County. The driver and two minor children were not injured. A Trooper observed signs of impairment and a subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests, was conducted. Two parcels of shoreline property with high ecological significance have been donated recently to the Door County Land Trust by the Nevins family’s third generation owners. Once full-time residents of Door County, Susan, Nancy, and Lori Nevins donated property totaling 9.27 acres near the Village of Egg Harbor in memory of their conservationist parents. A Wausau television news anchor’s death is confirmed to have been by suicide.  Yesterday Wausau Police issued a statement confirming Neena Pacholke’s death was by suicide.  She was 27.  The police statement says officers found her dead at a home in Wausau Saturday morning, August 27th during a welfare check after she reportedly had made suicidal statements.  Her older sister spoke with media outlets following Neena’s suicide saying her sister’s death was a big surprise because she was always happy

A red panda at the Henry Villas Zoo is dead following a cancer diagnosis.  Zoo officials say Tai was 14-years old and had been at the Henry Villas Zoo since 2012.  In a Facebook post yesterday, the Zoo announced her bone cancer diagnosis.   Tai was humanely euthanized after undergoing chemo but failing to improve.
