New Support System Unveiled For Badger Athletes

Wisconsin Badgers student athletes have a new support system for Name, Identity and Likeness objectives.  Yesterday the newly formed Varsity Collective held a media event to provide details of their intention to back NIL inspired Badger student athletes.  The collective is a joint effort between donors and Badger alums.  Find out more online at TheVarsityCollective-dot-Com.

WI Company Invests In Mental Health Services

UnityPoint-Meriter is the recipient of a Culver family donation earmarked for mental health treatment expansion.  Culver co-founder Lea Culver and her daughters along with UnityPoint-Meriter announced the million dollar donation yesterday.  The monies will go toward expanding mental health services for those in south central Wisconsin based out of UnityPoint-Meriter’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry section or CAP.  The donation is the largest single pledge to benefit CAP.

WI D.O.T Warns Of Text Scam

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is warning about an increase in text message scams.  The D-O-T says scammers are texting people and impersonating the D-O-T, asking people to click on a link and give out personal information.  An example of a recent scam is posted on the D-O-T’s Facebook page.

Flyover Planned For Badger Game

Badger fans will get to see a flyover at tomorrow’s football game.  F-16 fighter jets with the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard will fly over Camp Randall Stadium around 2:15 p.m., about 15 minutes before kickoff.  Tomorrow is also a Stripe Out game, where fans are asked to coordinate their attire to stripe the stadium in red and white.

COVID-19 Booster Shots Available Locally

The new COVID-19 booster doses are now available in Eau Claire County. These “bivalent” vaccines help to protect against the Omicron variant as well as the original COVID virus strain. The CDC recommends that anyone who is age 12 or older and has already received their first doses of Pfizer, Moderna, Novavax, or Johnson & Johnson make a plan to get this booster. Mourners in the United Kingdom are paying their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth.  Crowds were gathering outside Buckingham Palace since the announcement was made Thursday that the queen was gravely ill.  Londoners were seen huddled together outside the palace crying and laying flowers.  Queen Elizabeth ruled the Commonwealth for over 70 years.   She died Thursday at age 96 at her castle in Scotland. Deadly Crash in Vernon County

One person is dead and another injured following a two-vehicle crash in Vernon County. Police say a van, driven by 32-year-old Mary Cano of Gays Mills, was driving eastbound on State Highway 131 when she was about to turn left into a private driveway. Cano reportedly did not see a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
