Wisconsin is suing the makers of firefighting foam for a billion-dollars. Attorney General Josh Kaul and Governor Tony Evers announced the lawsuit yesterday. It names Tyco Fire Products in Marinette as one of the biggest PFAS polluters in the state. But the suit also names 17 other companies that make firefighting foam. Contact Before Ballot Changes

Local election managers in Wisconsin cannot add anything to absentee ballots without contacting voters first. The legislature’s Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules yesterday killed a proposal from the state’s Elections Commission that would have allowed local clerks to make changes on their own. WI Mill Expands, Adds Jobs

Georgia Pacific is moving ahead with its half-billion dollar expansion at its mill in Green Bay. The company says the new addition will help grow its tissue and paper towel business. G-P announced the expansion last year, the hope is to have the 500 million-dollar upgrade finished by 2024. Mill managers say the expansion will create 100 new jobs, in addition to the 800 people who are already working at the plant.

WI Lawmaker Calls For Criminal Investigation Into Elections Commission

Another Wisconsin lawmaker says it’s time for criminal investigations into the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Waukesha state Rep. Scott Allen yesterday said the Commission needs to be reigned-in and forced to follow state election laws. Allen’s comments came after the legislature’s Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules killed a rule from the Commission that would have allowed local election clerks to make changes to absentee ballots. Reports Shows WI Economic Snapshot

A new report says some parts of Wisconsin’s economy are still lagging. The Wisconsin Policy Forum released its new report yesterday that says Wisconsin’s job numbers and unemployment rate are almost back to where they were before the coronavirus hit. But the report says retail jobs and restaurant jobs are still struggling to catch-up, particularly in Milwaukee and Madison. The bright spot in the report is a six percent jump in warehouse and driving jobs in Wisconsin over the past two years.

Verdict Is In: Poll Shows Low Opinion Of High Court

The end of Roe has a lot of people changing their minds about the United States Supreme Court. The latest Marquette Law School Poll shows 61 percent of people in the country disapprove of the Supreme Court’s performance. The poll says just 38 percent of people approve. PFAS Lawsuits Target Companies

 Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and state Attorney General Josh Kaul are suing 18 companies accusing them of putting forever chemicals in land, property, and natural resources.  The suits were announced today in Dane County.  Evers says businesses like DuPont, 3M, Tyco Fire Products, and Chemguard should have known or did know their products contained PFAS which would damage public health.  They’re hoping for punitive damages plus recovering restoration and loss-of-use damages.

MKE Sees Spike in Shootings

Milwaukee’s shooting tally for the past five days is at 26, and will most certainly go up. Police in the city reported four new shootings yesterday. One person was killed in one of the shootings. The new shootings come after 14 people were shot between Friday morning and late Sunday night, and after eight more people were shot on Monday. Milwaukee Police don’t have any answers as to why there’s been such a spike in shootings recently.

Human Remains Found in Wood Co.

There are questions to be answered about human remains found in Wood County. The sheriff says the remains were found near Port Edwards in the Wisconsin River. Maintenance staff at the local dam found them yesterday morning. No one is saying how old the remains are, or who they may be.
