On Monday, December 19, 2022, at approximately 2:15 pm, Lake Hallie Police Officers responded to the Hampton Inn and Suites, 12707 30th Avenue, Lake Hallie, for a welfare check of a male subject that wasunresponsive inside a hotel room. The shooting happened near 13th Avenue and 56th Street about 8:30 Monday night. Kenosha Police say it started as a hostage situation, but escalated once the suspect started shooting at officers. Police burst into the gunman’s home, but it’s unclear if the gunman took his own life or was shot by officers.
