WE Energies Continues to Work on Restoring Power

Everyone should have their lights back by noon today. We Energies’ outage map shows a few hundred people remained without power overnight. The company says at its worst, this week’s snow and ice knocked-out power to about 980 thousand people. The worst of the outages were down in Racine and Kenosha. Folks there saw more ice than people in and around Milwaukee.

Retired Deputy Dies While Hiking Grand Canyon

Authorities in Waukesha County are remembering a retired deputy who died while hiking the Grand Canyon last week. The sheriff’s office took to Facebook yesterday to confirm the death of 56-year-old Scott McDonnell. The National Parks Service says he was found dead in the Grand Canyon last Friday. He was apparently trying to hike the Colorado River. The sheriff’s office says McDonnell ‘served our county honorably for 29 years’ and ‘will be missed.’

Former WI Governor Passes Away

Former Wisconsin Governor Tony Earl has passed away.  Governor Tony Evers’ Office says former Governor Earl died this morning at 86-years-old after suffering a stroke last weekend.  Earl was the 41st governor of Wisconsin and served one term from 1983 to 1987.  All flags in Wisconsin are now being flown at half-staff in his honor.

Former Chancellor Remembered

A memorial service is being held next week for former University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Doctor Rebecca Blank.  Her memorial service will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Madison at 2:00 p.m. on March 4th.  The service will also be livestreamed.  You can find the link on the University of Wisconsin-Madison website.

Saltimus Prime Pushing Through Snow

Gov. Evers Declares Snow Emergency

Governor Evers has declared another energy emergency. The governor yesterday ordered the emergency because of widespread power outages. The governor’s order makes it easier for out-of-state crews to come into Wisconsin and help restore electricity. Thousands of people across the state lost their power during the worst of yesterday’s storms. This is the third time the governor has declared an energy emergency in Wisconsin this winter.
