Badgers Name New Head Coach

 It’s a name that many Badger fans didn’t expect to hear. The university yesterday named Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell as the new head football coach. Fickell was a co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State for years and won two national championships there, before coaching Cincinnati into the College Football Playoffs last year. Many Badger fans expected the university to hire interim coach Jim Leonhard.

Packers Lose, Rodgers Injured

  The Packers’ season continues to get worse. Not only did Green Bay lose last night to the Eagles, 40-33, Aaron Rodgers left the game with an injury. Rodgers left the game in the third quarter, reportedly with a rib injury. He was already dealing with a broken thumb. The Packers are now 4-8 on the season, they take on the Bears next Sunday.

Curtain Raises On New Mall Micon

Micon Cinema’s new mall theater will be opening soon. Owners say they plan to open the doors on December 9th, that’s in two weeks. Micon announced they would be taking over the theater after AMC moved out two months ago. The plan is to run Christmas movies to start, Elf and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation are on the list, but that could change as Micon works out deals with the movie companies.

A Tradition Returns

“The Nutcracker” is coming back to the Overture Center this holiday season.  WMTV says the annual holiday tradition will feature new choreography set to Tchaikovsky’s music, performed by Madison Ballet and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.  Performances begin Friday, December 16th, and the show will run through Christmas Eve.

UW Police Eject Dozens

 Dozens of people were ejected from Saturday’s Badger game against the Golden Gophers.  Minnesota beat Wisconsin 23-16 at Camp Randall Stadium.  During the game, University of Wisconsin Police say they ejected about 50 people, including dozens of students, mostly for intoxication, possession of alcohol and being disorderly.  Sixteen people were arrested, and one person was given a citation for disposing human waste.

Black Friday Sales Push Record Numbers

Online Black Friday sales are expected to break records.  According to Adobe Analytics, U.S. online sales are projected to top nine-billion dollars, which would be a new record.  The numbers come on the heels of a big day of Thanksgiving shopping online, with the numbers up three-percent year-over-year.  A lead analyst for Adobe said some shoppers went back to physical stores for Black Friday, after two years when the pandemic kept many people at home.

EC Man Picks Up 6th OWI

Speeding leads to a 6th OWI for an Eau Claire man. 42 year old Keith C Fox has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 6th offense. On November 26th, 2022, at approximately 1:02 am, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper initiated a traffic stop on US Highway 53 at milepost 93 northbound near Eau Claire for a speed violation. State Commission Rules on Nurse Negotiations

The Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission says UW Health isn’t required to negotiate with a recently created nurses union.  The state commission issued its ruling yesterday.  UW Health said the commission “concluded that Act 10 eliminated UW Health from coverage by the Wisconsin Peace Act.”  Both the nurses union and UW Health agreed this is just a “first step.”  The nurses union UW Nurses United plans to appeal the ruling and also to petition the National Labor Relations Board for a union election.  UW Health
