WI Shelter Gets Grant From Rachael Ray

A Madison animal shelter is getting a grant from TV personality Raechel Ray.  Shelter from the Storm Animal Rescue was recently awarded the 25-thousand dollar No-Kill Excellence Grant.  The animal rescue says the money will be used to ensure it can maintain its 90 percent animal save rate.

Legislative Audit Bureau Report Focuses on Inmates, Crime

Republican lawmakers are ripping Governor Evers after a new audit shows many former inmates are not being sent back to jail for new crimes. The Legislative Audit Bureau released its report on Friday. Two Officers Killed in Line of Duty

 There are not a lot of answers about what led-up to the deadly shootout in western Wisconsin that left two police officers dead. We do know that it happened Saturday afternoon in Cameron, in Barron County. Investigators say a Cameron officer and an officer from Chetek died, as did the suspect who they pulled over. Many Howl About WI Wolf Plan

More than three thousand people have weighed-in on Wisconsin’s proposed wolf management plan. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources released the public comments on the plan late Friday. Many of the people who commented are against the plan. DNR wants to change the state’s strategy for wolves, in particular the agency wants to get away from a wolf population number. Environmentalists are happy to see the changes, they want to have fewer ‘human-wolf interactions’ in the future.

Gov. Evers Issues More Pardons

Governor Evers is closing-in on one thousand pardons. The governor on Friday issued 159 more pardons, bringing the total for his time in office to 933. Most of the people on the most recent pardon list had decades old convictions for drugs or other non-violent crimes. The governor says they all paid the price for their crimes, and have gone on to make a difference in their community. The governor says they all deserve a ‘new start.’

Wheels Turning on Free Bus Ride Plan

The city of Eau Claire is looking to spend some of the last of its coronavirus stimulus money to make sure homeless people can ride the bus for free. Harley Revs Up for Park Changes

Harley Davidson’s plans for its new headquarters could mean some changes at Highland Park. Harley’s foundation is proposing to rename the park to Harley Park, take over maintenance and upkeep at the park, and roll it into the new Hub. Harley is looking to transition its downtown headquarters into the Hub, which is essentially an open space for the community. A groundbreaking is set for later this summer, but the plans for Highland Park may take a little longer.
