Eau Claire is ready to spend almost 90 thousand-dollars on new diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The city council recently approved 87 thousand-dollars to be used for the creation of a BIPOC steering committee, to have a DEI focus group, and to hire a consultant to help create a new DEI plan. The 87 thousand-dollars is part of Eau Claire’s last bit of the city’s coronavirus stimulus money.

 The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) will set over 10,000 traps for spongy moth (Lymantria dispar) in 47 counties from mid-May through early July. A Canadian mining company gets approval to drill for copper and gold in parts of northern Wisconsin.  This month the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources authorized Green Light Wisconsin’s plans to drill several holes at six sites in the Bend Deposit in northwest Taylor County.  The company says it plans to drill for about ten weeks.
