Economic Development Manager Aaron White yesterday said the developer pulled out of the project near the intersection of Gateway Drive and Prill Road, but didn’t give a reason. Diversity Questioned on Campus

Republican lawmakers at the Wisconsin Capitol once again said they fear the University of Wisconsin is stifling free speech. Lawmakers held an hours-long hearing yesterday to press for answers about the climate on UW campuses. UW President Jay Rothman defended the university, saying the school is open to all viewpoints. University Peeper Not Charged

 A University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate student will not face charges in connection with a recent peeping tom arrest.  The suspect is accused of looking into windows on the University of Wisconsin campus back in March.  He was arrested on tentative charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct, but earlier this month the Dane County District Attorney declined the charges.

Dunn County Residents Dial Up Broadband Needs

Suspect Turns Himself In, One Remains at Large

One of the two teenagers wanted for Fond du Lac’s weekend triple shooting is now behind bars. Police say 14-year-old Parise Larry turned himself-in early yesterday morning. He’s wanted for the shooting death of a 20-year-old woman, and the shootings of two neighbors who police say were hit by stray bullets. The FBI swept-up dozens of members of a Milwaukee gang in an investigation that covers everything from murder for hire to PPP fraud. New Laws On Wisconsin Books

 Wisconsin’s newest laws will increase the punishment for carjacking and reckless driving. Governor Evers signed the two new laws yesterday. The new carjacking law adds 20 years to the sentence for taking someone’s car at gunpoint. The old sentence was 40 years, now anyone convicted of carjacking can be sent to prison for up to 60 years. Former Postal Worker Sentenced

A former western Wisconsin postal worker will spend the next three years on probation for stealing 26 thousand-dollars from the Post Office. A federal judge in Madison yesterday handed down the sentence to 45-year-old  Megan Torrez from Alma. Investigators say she would write bad checks for postal money orders at the post office she managed in Nelson, Wisconsin. Settlement Reached

We have a price tag for former Eau Claire County D.A. Gary King’s sexual harassment settlement. King and the state agreed to pay the county’s victim/witness coordinator 150 thousand-dollars to settle her lawsuit. She claimed King drunkenly harassed her during his time as D.A., including asking her to sit in his lap and making several sexual remarks. King stepped down as D.A before a state investigation was able to determine if he should be fired.
