A child is dead after a pickup truck crashed into the back of an Amish buggy. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office says two parents and four children were riding in the Amish buggy when a pickup truck ran into it from behind. They say several family members were thrown from the buggy and got serious injuries. One child died at the scene. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Four-thousand United Auto Workers union members are striking at Mack Trucks after 73-percent of workers voted down a tentative agreement.  About 25-thousand UAW workers are striking the Big Three Automaker plants. Wisconsin UAW workers joined the strike a couple weeks ago at two parts distribution plants, one in Hudson and one in Milwaukee.

The Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Department announces that in accordance with state guidelines, the annual 0.7-foot (8.4 inches) winter draw down of Lake Altoona will begin on Wednesday morning, November 1, 2023. Two people are dead and three others are recovering after being shot during a violent Sunday in Milwaukee. The first shooting happened about 7:30 a.m. at Julia and Burleigh. Police pronounced the 25-year-old victim dead at the scene. The second shooting happened about 7:45 a.m. near 89th and dogwood. Police say that victim also died at the scene.
