A judge says there is enough evidence to take the fourth suspect in last September’s killing in Eau Claire to trial. A judge yesterday refused Jamon Sullivan’s request to dismiss the charges against him. Eau Claire Police say Sullivan is allegedly one of four people who killed Christopher Conner last September at the intersection of Bergen and Bellevue. Search Continues For Missing Woman

Authorities in Wood County have found a missing woman’s SUV, but there are no signs of her. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office says they found Claudine Leibl’s Toyota FJ Cruiser in Fargo North Dakota yesterday, but there’s no sign of her. Leibl  has been missing since August when she went from Montana to North Dakota to visit a relative. She never arrived. No one is guessing where she may be. Here We Grow Again!

The latest numbers from the state of Wisconsin show both Eau Claire and Altoona are growing. The State’s Department of Administration is out with its latest population estimates, and says Eau Claire is now Wisconsin’s 7th largest city with more than 71,000 people. Altoona is also growing, the report says they added just over a thousand people since the 2020 census. The report bases its numbers on census data, housing data, and college admissions.

The company yesterday said it has fixed some of its computer issues, but said the rewards program remains offline. Am Fam Field Funding Swings for Fences

The plan to spend more than 500 million-dollars in taxpayer money on the Brewers’ ballpark is halfway there at the Wisconsin Capitol. The State Assembly yesterday approved the plan to use taxpayer money to pay for upkeep and renovations at American Family Field. Governor Nominates Newbies

Wisconsin’s governor is going to have to try again to get his people on to the Department of Natural Resources Board. The Wisconsin Senate rejected four of the governor’s appointees yesterday. Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu said the four weren’t qualified, and refused to follow the law. Democrats say LeMahieu and the Republicans are playing games. Governor Evers yesterday nominated four new people to try and take over the board.

Student Attack Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

The Madison man accused of attacking and severely injuring a University of Wisconsin student is pleading not guilty. Brandon Thompson is charged with first-degree sexual assault, reckless injury, strangulation, and suffocation. Prosecutors say they think he chose the woman at random, and DNA evidence links him to the September assault. Thompson’s next court appearance is scheduled for December first. The victim has a traumatic brain injury and broken bones.

Pay Hike Approved for State Workers

The Wisconsin legislature’s employment relations committee approved pay hikes for nearly all state workers. The exception is Universities of Wisconsin staff.  The raises amount to a six percent increase total — four-percent in the first year and two-percent the second year.  Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is blocking raises for University employees unless the U-W System cuts Diversity, Equity and Inclusion positions.

Select UW Campuses Plan for End of In-Person Classes

U-W-Milwaukee at Washington County and Oshkosh, Fond du Lac will end in-person classes by next June. Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman says Wisconsin-Platteville Richland will be closed down. Rothman says freshmen enrollment at four-year campuses is rising while it’s falling at two-year campuses.

Drug Take Back Day Planned

Each year in Wisconsin more than 100,000 pounds of medication is collected at Drug Take Back Day events which are held in April and October, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). That’s the same weight as two full-sized snowplows. What can’t be measured, however is the number of lives potentially saved because of these events.
