Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Arrests

On September 15, 2023, at 6:40 pm, a Lake Hallie Police Officer stopped a vehicle for suspended registration, due to unpaid parking tickets, on 22nd Avenue at CTH OO, Lake Hallie. There were three total occupants in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Rebecca Weinberg (30 YOA, homeless), claimed to be the owner of the vehicle. Chippewa County will be providing residents with a special clean up to dispose of their household hazardous wastes, chemicals, batteries, and fluorescents bulbs in an environmentally safe manner. Badgers Fans Score Tickets, Arrests

Twenty-one people are facing charges after being arrested at Camp Randall on Saturday.  UW-Madison police say 17 of those arrests were for underage drinking during the Badgers game against Georgia Southern.  Additional arrests were for entering the playing field, trespassing, and for throwing objects, according to authorities.  Police say 29 people were also ejected from the stadium.

WI Man Facing Federal Charges After Animal Cruelty

A Soldiers Grove man is admitting to paying someone in Indonesia to torture a monkey on video.  U.S. prosecutors say 40-year-old Kenneth Herrera pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the footage on Friday.  Herrera has admitted to paying a man 100 dollars to record himself harming a young macaque.  He also instructed the man on the ways he wanted the torture done, according to officials.  Herrera could face up to seven years in prison when he is sentenced in

Tanker Rolls in EC County

It’s unclear if anybody is hurt after a tanker truck rolled over in Eau Claire County.  It happened yesterday north of Fairchild in the area of County Road H and Oak Road.  The Sheriff’s Office says the tanker truck rolled onto its side, leading to a spill of diesel fuel.  Crews were called out to clean up the mess, while sheriff’s officials noted the area would be closed for “an extended period of time.”  A Facebook post didn’t provide any

Planned Parenthood Clinics Resume Services

Advocates on both sides of the issue are preparing for the restart of abortions at Planned Parenthood clinics in Madison and Milwaukee today.  The organization is once again offering the procedures after a Dane County judge ruled that an 1849 state law banning them is not applicable to abortions that are done voluntarily.  Madison pro-choice group MARRCH is hosting an abortion access celebration rally at the Wisconsin Capitol this evening.  A spokesperson with Wisconsin Right To Life says they will

Lawmakers Shift Into Drivers Education Discussion

State lawmakers are considering a measure aimed at increasing enrollment in driver’s education courses.  A proposed bill would devote six-million dollars to covering the course fees for students who get free and reduced lunch.  Officials say the costs of classes lead many young people to wait until they are 18 years old to get their licenses, when they are no longer required to take formal training.  The legislation is co-sponsored by Republican State Representative Bob Donovan and some Democrat lawmakers.

Many restaurants are offering deals today in celebration of National Cheeseburger Day.  Participating McDonald’s locations are selling double cheeseburgers for 50 cents on orders placed through their mobile app.  Wendy’s customers can get a junior bacon cheeseburger for a penny today through Friday when using the coupon on their ordering app.  Applebee’s is offering cheeseburgers and fries for eight-99 for dine-in and online.
