VP Harris Postpones WI Trip

Vice President Kamala Harris is postponing her trip to the University of Wisconsin Madison this week because of services for US Senator Diane Feinstein who died last week.  Harris was scheduled at UW-Madison Wednesday as part of her tour of college campuses across the country, where she promotes Biden Administration policies on reproductive rights, climate action, and voting rights.  Senator Feinstein will lie in state at San Francisco City Hall beginning Wednesday. Student Numbers Trend Up

First-time enrollment is up eleven-point-four percent at UW-Madison this year, and the total enrollment exceeds 50-thousand for the first time, ever.  More than 68-thousand applications were received for this school year.  Enrollment is up at four other University of Wisconsin System schools this year, including Platteville. Whitewater, Stevens Point, and Green Bay.

Air Accident Under Investigation

We are waiting for information about what’s being called an ‘aircraft accident’ in Waupaca county. Police say they got a call to the municipal airport yesterday and said two people were hurt. Officers say the pilot and the passenger were the only two who were hurt, but their injuries are serious. No one is saying just what happened, or who the pilot and passenger are.

WI Represented in DC

Western Wisconsin’s congressman voted for the plan to keep the government running. Republican Derek Van Orden is one of six Wisconsin congressmen to vote for the temporary funding deal that avoids the government shutdown. Northwoods Congressman Tom Tiffany, however, voted against the plan. The funding deal keeps the federal government open for 45 days, and gives Republicans more time to talk about budget cuts and spending restrictions.

Search Continues for Missing WI Woman

Authorities in Juneau County do not believe a woman who’s been missing since the 4th of July simply walked away. Police have been searching for 43-year-old Leya Stewart since she disappeared on Independence day. The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office has called in the state’s Department of Criminal Investigation, but no one has heard from Stewart in months. The state has issued three alerts in the search for Stewart, but all have come back empty. Her family says they’re not giving

Horse Shot, Search for Suspect Continues

There is a one thousand-dollar reward for information that leads to the arrest of whoever shot and killed a miniature horse in Sauk County.  Wood Weller says he found his miniature horse Penny shot to death last week.  He said somebody fired a crossbow into her chest.  The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office is asking neighbors if they saw anything.  Weller says investigators don’t believe this was a hunting accident.  The Sauk County Sheriff doesn’t have any suspects or motive in

Train Decouples in Sussex Co.

The Union Pacific Railroad is not saying how a train came apart in Sussex Saturday morning. The train decoupled, and left several cars just sitting on the tracks. It backed traffic up for miles. No one was hurt, but it did take about two hours to clear the scene. The Union Pacific apologized for the inconvenience, and is looking to see just what happened.
