Apprentices Hit Record Numbers

A record number of apprentices have enrolled in Wisconsin’s Apprenticeship Program. Governor Tony Evers says in a press release there are more than 16-thousand apprentices, breaking last year’s record as the most the program has seen in its 112 years. Applications For Internet Upgrades are Loading

More than 120 applications were received for rural broadband infrastructure funding in Wisconsin. The applications for the Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program requested a total of more than 221-million dollars, but only about 42-million will be awarded. The ratio of requested funding to available funding is the highest since the first round of applications in 2014. Grant money will go toward projects aiming to provide high-quality internet in locations without adequate or affordable service options.

Woman Pleads Guilty in EC Murder Case

A Chetek woman has agreed to plead guilty in an Eau Claire County murder case from last year. Vanessa Ketteman agreed to the plea yesterday. She will be sentenced for felony murder-false imprisonment for her role in the June 2022 shooting death of Eddie Banks. Investigators say Ketterman and two other people lured Banks to a meeting after he failed to deliver 500 dollars worth of drugs. Ketterman says Banks died when he grabbed for the gun and it went

Gavel Drops in Eye Drop Murder Case: Guilty

Jessy Kurczewski is heading to prison. A jury in Waukesha County yesterday found her guilty of poisoning her friend with eye drops back in 2018. Jurors also convicted her of stealing nearly 300 thousand-dollars from her friend as well. Kurczewski wept as the verdict was read, she had insisted that her friend killed herself. Kurczewski is facing a mandatory life sentence, she’ll be sentenced early next month.

DA Says Evidence Lacking in Case Against Sheriff

Chippewa County’s DA says he doesn’t have enough facts to make a decision about possible charges for the county’s sheriff.
