Wrong Way Driver Leads to 3rd OWI

On January 7th, 2024, at approximately 2:00 am, the Lake Hallie Police Department received a report of a black SUV driving southbound in the northbound lane on Highway 53 from the Town of Bloomer. At approximately 2:13 am, Lake Hallie Police Officers were able to locate the truck traveling southbound in the northbound lane by Mile Marker 96 on Hwy 53. Deputy Cleared in Deadly Shooting

The District Attorney in Washington County says a deputy had no choice but to shoot and kill a wanted suspect back in October. District Attorney Adam Gerol on Saturday said there will be no charges against the deputy for shooting and killing 29-year-old Christopher Sewell after a chase. The DA says Sewell pulled-out a gun as the deputy was chasing him. The deputy shot Sewell seven times.

WI Train Crash Under Investigation

Everyone walked away from a crash between a car and an Amtrak train in Brookfield. It happened just after 5 p.m. Saturday on the railroad tracks at the intersection of Pilgrim and North. Brookfield Police say the driver accidentally turned on to the train tracks. Both the driver and their passenger got out of the car before the train arrived. None of the 214 people on-board the train were hurt.

Eau Claire Plans for Polls

Election Day isn’t until April, but Eau Claire’s clerk’s office  is already busy. Deputy City Clerk Rebecca Draeger says they need lots of poll workers this year. It is a presidential election, and that always means a higher turn-out. Draeger says they have 400 people signed-up so far, but they’re looking for more. Mondovi K-9 Officer Passes Away

It’s a sad day for law enforcement in Mondovi. Police say tier K-9, Buck, passed away on Saturday. Buck suffered from a ‘medical issue,’ and police say even emergency surgery at the vet in Eau Claire could not save him. Buck was Mondovi’s first police dog, and worked with two officers during his time in the department There is no word yet about a public memorial. Dairyland Sees Weekend Earthquake

Northern Wisconsin was shaken by a small earthquake yesterday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 2-point-5 earthquake rumbled near Crandon, up in Forest County. The sheriff’s office says they got plenty of calls about the rumbling or shaking underground. There are no reports of any damage or any injuries. Earthquakes are rare in Wisconsin, the last was a mini-quake in Waupaca back in 2012.

Long Time WI Officer Retires

A law enforcement leader in Janesville is retiring after 32 years of service.   The city has announced that Deputy Chief Todd Kleisner retired on Friday from the Janesville Police Department.  Kleisner joined the department in 1991 and has won multiple awards for his service.  He told WMTV that he plans to use his retirement to spend more time with his family and do some traveling and you can CLICK HERE FOR MORE OF THE STORY.
