Crews were on scene of a fire Wednesday. It was on November 29th, when the Rice Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire at 2776 23rd Street in the Township of Oak Grove. The first fire department unit arrived to find a two story barn, fully involved in fire with complete roof collapse. Crews worked to control and contain the blaze. The Clearwater Winter Parade will be held on this Friday, December 1st beginning at 6:30pm with a firework show, sponsored by Market & Johnson, Xcel Energy, and West Grand Bid. The following street closures will be in effect on Friday December 1st for the parade from5:30pm-until the end of the event:

Madison Police are looking for suspects accused of stealing more than 100-thousand dollars in jewelry. Officers say they were called to the jewelry store at the West Towne Mall on Monday. Investigators say the suspects cut the jewelry store’s security gate open and stole 100-thousand worth of rings from a display case. No arrests have been made, but detectives are looking at digital evidence for leads.

Five Wisconsin companies will get grant money to help expand processing, marketing, and distribution. The Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grants are 50-thousand dollars maximum per company, and come from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Fitchburg’s Eplegaarden Orchard was given money to expand offerings using their fresh fruit, and Lov-It Foods in Green Bay got money to help sell newly-branded artisanal cheeses. Three other companies in Mequon, Manitowoc, and Mayville were also awarded money.

The International Crane Foundation has submitted a specialty license plate request to the Wisconsin DMV. The license plate would require a yearly 25-dollar donation to the organization to be automatically added to car registration fees. The International Crane Foundation says it works to conserve cranes and the ecosystems they depend on. The license plate is open to public comment for 30 days before an approval decision is made.

A Dane County judge has dismissed the claim from a liberal law firm that accused Wisconsin’s Assembly Speaker of breaking the state’s open meetings laws with his impeachment panel. The judge yesterday said American Oversight filed its lawsuit too quickly, and should have let Dane County’s DA handle the case first. It was a down year for deer hunters in Wisconsin.  The state’s Department of Natural Resources yesterday reported a nearly 18-percent drop in the deer harvest for this year’s gun season. The DNR says hunters bagged just under 174-thousand deer during the nine-day gun season. The DNR says hunters in all four zones in the state took fewer deer, but hunters in the northern forest had the worst luck.  Their numbers were down 30-percent compared to last year.  Wisconsin is

No one was home, and no one was hurt in a house fire in Chippewa Falls yesterday.  Firefighters got a call about a fire on Wheaton Street just before 12:45 p.m.  The woman who lives there says no one was home, though she says her cat died in the fire.  Investigators are not yet saying just what caused that fire.
