Wrong Way Driver Leads to 3rd OWI

On January 7th, 2024, at approximately 2:00 am, the Lake Hallie Police Department received a report of a black SUV driving southbound in the northbound lane on Highway 53 from the Town of Bloomer. At approximately 2:13 am, Lake Hallie Police Officers were able to locate the truck traveling southbound in the northbound lane by Mile Marker 96 on Hwy 53. One of the officers activated his emergency lights and siren but the truck continued southbound. Another Lake Hallie Police Officer successfully deployed stop sticks on the truck which eventually came to a stop north of Exit 92 (Melby Road) and the operator of the vehicle, Clifton F. Davis (45 years old), from Lake Hallie was taken into custody.

Officers detected the odor of intoxicants coming from the driver’s breath and the driver was unsteady on his feet. Davis voluntarily submitted to field sobriety testing and submitted to a preliminary breath test which yielded a result of .23. As a result, Davis was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated -3rd Offense and a pending charge for Prohibited Alcohol Concentration is based on the results
