The now-former chancellor at UW-La Crosse says he was stunned to be fired over his porn videos. Joe Gow said in a series of interviews yesterday that he did not expect to lose his job over the videos that he and his wife filmed, produced, then distributed online. WEC Dismisses 14th Amendment Challenge

Wisconsin Elections Commission has dismissed the 14th Amendment challenge to Donald Trump’s candidacy here in Wisconsin. Commissioners yesterday tossed progressive activist Kirk Bangstad’s challenge without comment. Bangstad expected the dismissal, and in fact welcomed it. Bangstad said his hope is to take the challenge to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. This week saw Michigan’s Supreme Court reject a 14th Amendment challenge to the former president, and saw Maine’s top election manager accept a 14th Amendment challenge there.

Road Sign Thefts in Brown Co. Lead to Search for Suspects

Someone is cutting down road signs in Brown County. The sheriff’s office yesterday said there have been a ‘large number’ of signs cut down over the past few weeks. Most of the signs were cut down in the southern part of the county. Deputies say it looks like someone is using a saw to cut the wooden signposts in half. Livestream Coming to Hobbs

Eau Claire is inching closer to livestream video out of the Hobbs Center. The city’s parks and rec department is working on a deal to install cameras, and set-up a feed. Parks and rec Manager Patrick Newkirk says the idea is allow parents and grandparents to watch their kids skate or play hockey without having to come all the way to Eau Claire, or even come across town. Two French chefs and a cheesemaker have broken a Guinness World Record by creating a pizza with over a thousand different types of cheese.  Pizza Chef Benoît Bruel of Lyon was behind the culinary creation.  Bruel told Guinness World Records, “my only dream is to make pizzas with the widest variety of cheeses.”

Traffic Violation Leads to 5th OWI

John M Phalen, 70 years of age, from Stone Lake has been arrested by the Wisconsin State PatrolSpooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense. The Wisconsin State Patrol, Northwest Region, Eau Claire Post received information from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department regarding a carjacking that occurred in St. Paul, MN. A firearm was implied, but not displayed. Ramsay County was tracking the vehicle eastbound on Interstate 94 in Dunn County. Flags will be at half-staff in Wisconsin starting today (Thurs) until former US Senator Herb Kohl’s burial. Governor Tony Evers says Kohl was a born and raised Milwaukeean who dedicated his life and career to the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin has been ranked the state with the second-most car crashes caused by animals. A new study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows 14-percent of fatal crashes in Wisconsin since 2017 involved live animals. Montana was the highest-ranking state at 23-percent.

Two Madison-area hospitals have released their top baby names of 2023. SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Madison and UnityPoint Health-Meriter say there were seven-thousand babies born between the two. The top names for the two-thousand babies born at St. Mary’s were Hudson and Ava. For UnityPoint-Meriter’s five-thousand babies, Theodore and Emma were at the top of the list.
