Arrests Made in WI Homicide Case

A 33-year-old woman’s death is being ruled a homicide and two have been arrested in relation to her death.  Ashley Ann Calo was found dead in her car after a single car accident earlier this week and foul play is suspected according to Fond du Lac police.  Annaka Winter Trudell has been arrested and charged with first-degree reckless homicide and an unidentified man has been charged with harboring or aiding a felon.  More is to be discovered in the case

Ruling Sides with Soybean Farmers

Wisconsin Soybean farmers will be allowed to use the weed killer with Dicamba despite a court ruling last week banning the substance.  The EPA is allowing already packaged goods with Dicamba to be sent out nationwide.  In Wisconsin sale and distribution will continue until the end of May with use allowed until the end of June.

Spelling Bee Takes Stage

The All-City Spelling Bee took place yesterday at M.A.T.C.’s Mitby Theater.  The Wisconsin State Journal sponsored the event for the 75th consecutive year.  Thirty-eight students from third to eighth grade from Madison competed in the competition.  Eighth grader Vincent Bautista from St. Maria Goretti Catholic School won the event.  He and the second and third place finishers will be going to the state wide competition on March 16th.

Titletown Tops Cities List

Two Wisconsin cities have ranked in the U.S. News & World Report list of the “Best Places to Live for Quality of Life in the U.S. in 2023-2024.”  Green Bay and Madison both ranked in the top ten based on factors like resident well being, housing affordability, job market index and more. Green Bay ranked seventh and Madison finished in third, respectively.

Electric and Hybrid Cars to Have New Plate Sticker

Owners of electric and hybrid cars will be receiving a new plate sticker.  It is required by law to add the stickers to the car and they will arrive in the mail by June.  The stickers are needed as a way to help first responders deal with electric vehicles in emergency situations. Man Charged With Killing Elkhorn Couple In Bar Appears In Court

A man arrested and accused of shooting and killing an Elkhorn couple at a sports bar will make his first court appearance today. Witnesses at Sports Page Bar just after midnight on February 1st say a man was using a video game machine at the bar when he stood up and fired his gun.
