Prosecutors in Juneau County are moving ahead with charges against a man and a woman in a murder case there. The D.A. yesterday filed formal charges against 47-year-old Donald Dalberg and 27-year-old Crystal Teumer. They’re accused of killing, then trying to burn a man last Thursday near the Oak Ridge Trail parking area. Investigators say Teumer confessed to the crime. Sweet Expansion Planned for Haribo

The growing appetite for gummy bears means an expansion in Kenosha County. Haribo, which makes gummy bears at a plant in Pleasant Prairie, yesterday said it is upgrading its nearby warehouse. The company currently uses a 157 thousand square-foot facility in Kenosha County, but will soon move into a new 447 thousand square-foot facility. Haribo says the new facility will be used as a warehouse and distribution hub.

WI Lawmakers Work to Keep Sturgeon Spearing

A pair of Wisconsin congressmen want to make sure fishermen can keep on spearing sturgeon in the state. Congressmen Mike Gallaghaer and Glenn Grothman have introduced new legislation that would protect the annual sturgeon spearing on the Lake Winnebago system. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is studying whether to add the sturgeon to the Endangered Species Act. Gov. Evers Set to Deliver State of the State Address

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers will give his State of the State Address tonight. The governor’s office says he will focus on challenges to the state’s workforce, and trying to find long-term solutions for shortages. He also plans to summarize the bipartisan successes from 2023, including keeping the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin through 2050. His speech will begin at seven.

Woman Pleads No Contest in Cemetery Thefts

A Wisconsin woman will be going to jail for sixty days for stealing from cemeteries. Carrie Thompson of Green County pleaded no contest to five charges of receiving or concealing stolen property, in exchange for 35 additional charges to be dismissed. The Monroe Police Department says the items stolen were often sentimental and left in memory of a loved one. DOT Honors Construction in WI

Six Wisconsin construction companies are being honored by the state Department of Transportation for work done in 2023. The Excellence in Construction Awards are given annually to companies that work on Wisconsin infrastructure projects. This year’s award for Excellence in Concrete Paving went to Trierweiler Construction out of Marshfield for reconstructing some of Blair Street in Madison. DSPS Issuing Licenses, Reports Minimal Wait

Laid Off Health Care Workers Can Use the L.E. Phillips Senior Center Free
