Former Chancellor Files Racial Discrimination Lawsuit

A lawsuit has been filed against a UW-Eau Claire chancellor for racial discrimination. Olga Diaz, who served as Vice Chancellor of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Student Affairs from June 2021 until November 2022, filed the suit. She says Chancellor Jim Schmidt asked her to resign from her position for being a distraction and losing support of her team. EC Man Sentenced in Halloween Incidents

A judge sentenced an Eau Claire man to prison for his meth-fueled rampage last Halloween. The judge yesterday gave Cole Evenson 13 months in prison for threatening to burn a woman’s house down, then breaking into another home and destroying a TV. Police say Evenson was high and naked at the time. He’s also accused of killing his roommate’s dog. As part if the sentence, Evenson must remain completely sober.

Clue Found, Search Continues

After four weeks, there’s finally word of a clue in the search for that missing Manitowoc County boy. Elijah Vue, 3, is still missing.(Two Rivers Police Department) Police in Two Rivers yesterday said they found a blanket belonging to three-year-old Elijah Vue ‘early’ in their investigation. Death Investigation Underway at Devil’s Lake State Park

There is a death investigation at Devil’s Lake State Park. The state’s Department of Natural Resources yesterday said they got a report of a dead body at the park. The investigation does not appear to be related to James Yoblonski, the 13-year-old who disappeared into the park last summer. Wausau Police Department Looks to Add Officers

Police in Wausau say they need two more officers to keep-up with the city’s homeless boom. Police Chief Matt Barnes told a city council committee last night that Wausau’s homeless population has essentially doubled in the past five months, and he says the current police force cannot keep-up. He says he needs more officers to deal with calls from the rest of the city as well.

In-person absentee voting begins across Wisconsin tomorrow (Tues) for the presidential primary and two constitutional amendments. Father and Son Injured in ATV Crash

A father and son are seriously injured after an ATV crash in western Wisconsin. Emergency crews responded to the scene in Muscoda on Saturday night. The two victims on the ATV were taken to emergency rooms in the area before they were airlifted to Madison and La Crosse. People who saw the crash say the ATV was traveling quickly and crashed into a trailer that was hauled by a pickup truck.
