The wrecking ball is coming soon for a beloved bar in La Crosse.  At the Board of Public Works meeting Monday, a contract is expected to be awarded for the Glory Days bar, which was heavily damaged along with nearby buildings in a fire two years ago.  Its owners had said they hoped to rebuild and reopen the bar, but have been unable to do so.  The bar was popular for its collection of Green Bay Packers memorabilia.    

Today is the day. HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and St. Joes in Chippewa close their doors and exit the Chippewa Valley, marking the end of an era for many and a change of life for those who worked in the system. Snow is falling across much of Wisconsin, causing potential problems for this morning’s commute.  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the state into at least late morning today.  Wisconsin DOT is urging drivers to slow down and leave plenty of room to allow plow operators to work. Sales taxes on precious metals are being eliminated in the State of Wisconsin.  Governor Tony Evers signed Assembly Bill 29 and Senate Bill 33 into law yesterday, recognizing purchases of various forms of metals like gold and silver as investments.  Language in the law means buyers will not be charged sales tax for transactions on coins, bars, rounds or sheets that are made up of at least 35 percent gold, silver, copper, platinum, or palladium.  The new rules take effect

The Alzheimer’s Association says Wisconsin is seeing a growing need for care professionals for older adults.  The organization estimates that current staffing levels for clinicians and long-term care workers will need to increase by well over 200 percent to keep up with demand across the state by 2030.  The organization reports that there are over 110-thousand Wisconsin residents currently living with dementia and, with those individuals, over 200-thousand family caregivers.  The family members who look after Alzheimer patients in Wisconsin

Organizers are announcing the performers for Milwaukee’s Summerfest this year.  The massive festival spreads 140 headliners of various genres across three weekends, beginning June 20th.  Kane Brown and Keith Urban are among the bigger country acts on the bill, while Goo Goo Dolls, Maroon 5, and the Wallflowers make up a pop and rock contingent.  The shows will also feature a whole host of other acts ranging from Lil Uzi Vert to Motley Crue.  A full listing of performers is

The hearing for a man facing child neglect charges related to a missing Two Rivers boy has been postponed. Elijah Vue, 3, is still missing.(Two Rivers Police Department) Jesse Vang, the boyfriend of Elijah Vue’s mother, was initially scheduled to appear in court today. His lawyers filed a motion to either dismiss his charges or make the complaints against him more clear earlier this week. Wisconsin is distributing more than 320-thousand dollars to improve county forest roads. Governor Tony Evers says the money will benefit more than 900 miles of roadway spanning 24 counties. The Department of Transportation says the money should help decrease the amount counties have to pay for the road improvements. To qualify, roads must be located in county forest limits and be open to the public for travel.

Political advertisements that use content made by artificial intelligence will now be required to include disclosures in Wisconsin. Governor Tony Evers approved the law this morning (Thurs). The act was introduced by Senator Mark Spreitzer and Representative Clinton Anderson.  They say the new law will help voters decide which advertisements are authentic.
