Opioid Settlement Funds Coming to State

Twelve law enforcement agencies are splitting almost two million dollars in opioid settlement funds. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says some projects selected for funding will help keep opioid addicts out of jail or provide treatment to people already in jail. Wisconsin will get more than 750-million of the national settlement fund through 2038.

Six Wisconsin educators are finalists for a national math and science award. The Presidential Awards For Excellence are considered the highest honor given by the U-S government for science and math teachers. One person from each category will win ten-thousand dollars.  All six teachers are fifth and sixth grade educators from schools across the state.

Menomonie Police Respond to School Threats

On Thursday April 18, 2024, at approximately 11:43 p.m., the Menomonie Police Department was alerted to a social media post indicating there would be a school shooting at the Colfax High School on April 19, 2024. The subject who made the post was subsequently interviewed and taken into custody. Man Held in Connection to Death, Deputies Search Lake

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve found more remains that they think are those of Sade Robinson. Deputies say someone found an arm and a torso while walking along the beach in South Milwaukee yesterday. Robinson has been missing since earlier this month when she went on a date with the man now being held in connection to her death. Multiple Firings, Federal Investigation in to Waupun Prison Continues

Five people who worked at the prison in Waupun have either been fired or have quit in connection to the federal investigation into smuggling. The Justice Department is not saying if any charges have been filed, but investigators say the case remains open. WIAA to Vote on High School Athletes Getting Paid

Wisconsin’s high school sports managers may allow high schoolers to get NIL money in the future.  The WIAA will vote next week on whether to allow high school athletes to be paid.
