Marshfield Fire and Rescue initially responded with 9 personnel to a report of a fire in the particle board plant located at Masonite Architectural. Investigation found a large particle board press was on fire. Additional manpower was requested along with Central RIT. The fire sprinkler system was activated, containing the fire to the area of origin. Interior attack teams made entry and were able to extinguish the press fire. Water Street Mile Cancelled Due to Construction

Sub Charged For Explicit Classroom Conversation

There are charges for an Altoona sub over a sexually explicit conversation in the classroom. Prosecutors in Eau Claire claim substitute teacher James Worley told some students about sexual activity in his past and other inappropriate topics. He’s now looking at four felony counts of exposing a child to harmful descriptions. Search Continues For Missing Child

Searchers will spend their weekend, once again, looking for three-year-old Elijah Vue. Elijah Vue, 3, is still missing.(Two Rivers Police Department) He’s the little boy who’s been missing from Two Rivers for more than three weeks now. Volunteers say they will search through Sunday for any clues. Police say Elijah was staying with his mom’s boyfriend when he disappeared on February 20th. Vue’s mom and her boyfriend are both being held on child neglect charges.

New Chancellor Named

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has a new chancellor. The school yesterday introduced James Beeby as their new chancellor. He replaces Joe Gow who was fired after the university discovered the porn videos that he and his wife were making and sharing online. Beeby comes to La Crosse from Keene State College in New Hampshire. He did not talk about Gow’s firing, or the reasons for it, during his first appearance at the university yesterday.

Wildfire Warnings Stretch the State

Wisconsin is looking at a statewide wildfire warning. The state’s Department of Natural Resources updated its fire danger map yesterday, and the entire state is looking at least a High Fire Danger level. A handful of counties in the middle of the state are looking at an Extremely High Fire Danger. The DNR is warning people against burning brush. A lack of snow, and dry start to the spring are being blamed for the heightened fire risk.

Usually you can’t golf in Wisconsin til at least April, but that’s not stopping the folks at Golf Digest from naming Wisconsin the best state in the nation for public golf. Golf Digest came out with its rankings yesterday, and put Wisconsin ahead of California, Michigan, Oregon, and North Carolina on the list. Biden Visits WI, Announces Funding

Wisconsin will get more than 39-million dollars to improve access to transportation. The Biden Administration announced the funding yesterday. It says the money is to make sure all communities have direct routes to schools and workplaces. Madison will get a million dollars to build an overpass that will connect Perry Street over the Beltline. President Biden will speak in Milwaukee later today.

Real Attention to AI

Wisconsin’s proposed rules for AI campaign commercials are heading to the governor. The state Senate approved a plan yesterday that would require political campaigns to let voters know if they used AI to manipulate video or audio in any campaign commercial. Both Democrats and Republicans support the idea. Democratic Senator Mark Spreitzer says voters need to know if what they’re seeing is real. The legislation doesn’t ban AI commercials, it just requires a disclaimer be added.

WI Rep. Looks to Power Down TikTok

TikTok needs to “break up” with the Chinese community party. That’s what Wisconsin Republican Mike Gallagher told reporters after the House passed a bill requiring TikTok’s parent company, Chinese-owned tech giant ByteDance, to sell the social media app or see it banned in the U.S. Gallagher said the current ownership structure is a threat to national security, as American data can be accessed by the Chinese government.
